Casa Batlló in Barcelona
This is the winner of a Medal.
Restoration and maintenance of one of Antoni Gaudi’s most emblematic private houses, which has since become a major attraction of the city of Barcelona. The house now functions as a venue for events and for cultural visits.
Restoration work included the consolidation of the foundations, structural reinforcements, extensive restoration of the ceramic and glass trencadís on the stunning façade and the light well, treatment of woodwork and rehabilitation of the tiled piano nobile courtyard. Importantly, special innovations were launched to enable blind people to enjoy this very tactile building.
“For the glorious revival of a masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí and for the special innovations launched to enable the visually impaired to enjoy their visit.”
