Rundale Palace Museum in Pilsrundale
This is the winner of a Diploma.
The nominated museum was built starting 30 years ago from the ruins of a Baroque style summer residence, with restoration work still underway.
It has become a microcosm of Latvia’s intellectual potential and a monument to its past: a school for conservation, restoration, and art history, and a centre for museum management. It collected items from Latvia and also republics of the USSR during times of religious repression. Publishing activities include monographs, catalogues and scientific articles.
“For a thirty-year achievement as a museum, school for conservation, restoration and art history and as a centre for museum management.”
